Detoxification is a process of "cleansing" the inside of your body and removing harmful toxins stored in your organs and tissue.  We uptake toxins through everyday living and can easily get overloaded. 

 

A study, “Body Burden” , published in July 2005 by the Environmental Working Group, showed that we actually come into this world loaded with toxins. They found that 287 chemicals were detected in the umbilical cord blood of American newborns, with an average of 200 chemicals per baby. Of the 287 chemicals detected, 180 are known to cause cancer, 217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system, and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animal tests.

 

Detoxification is one way to decrease this toxic burden that begins to accumulate even before we are born.

A study led by the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and in collaboration with the Environmental Working Group and Commonweal found an average of 91 chemicals in the blood and urine of nine volunteers who, incidentally, were selected because they considered themselves to be healthy and had not worked with chemicals or lived near an industrial facility. Every person in the group tested positive for at least 77 toxic chemicals.

My Story:

For much of my life I suffered from asthma, allergies, eczema, irritable bowel syndrome, acid reflux, developing ulcers, chronic PMS and irregular periods, arthritis, tendonitis, chronic fatigue, insomnia, sugar cravings and coffee addiction.  I felt my health was my life-sentence...one I could not escape.

However, in trying to heal my son's acute Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), I also healed myself  through nutrition, lifestyle and natural healing modalities.  I then made it my life's purpose to educate people about how take control of their own health and wellbeing.  No one has to be a victim of circumstance.  We all make choices in our lives that either benefit or hurt us.
